Hormone Evaluation for Infertility in Los Gatos.

Hormone Evaluation for Infertility in Los Gatos.

Comprehensive hormonal evaluation and optimization for women and men whose fertility challenges are rooted in hormonal dysfunction.

Comprehensive Hormonal Evaluation Many people go through standard fertility workups without a complete hormonal panel. We evaluate the full picture.

Infertility is one of the more emotionally loaded health challenges a person or couple can face, and one of the most medically complex. What often gets lost in the process is a thorough evaluation of the hormonal environment — which is frequently at the center of why conception isn't happening.

At LuminHRT in Los Gatos, we work with women and men whose fertility challenges are rooted in or compounded by hormonal dysfunction. This isn't reproductive endocrinology or IVF coordination. Our scope is hormone evaluation and optimization — which for many people is a meaningful and sometimes overlooked piece of the fertility picture.

The Hormonal Dimension of Infertility

Fertility depends on a precisely coordinated hormonal system. In women, estrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH, and thyroid hormones all need to be working in sync for ovulation, implantation, and early pregnancy to occur. When any of these are off, the entire process can break down.

In men, testosterone, FSH, LH, and prolactin levels all affect sperm production and quality. Low testosterone or elevated estrogen in men can significantly reduce sperm count and motility — issues that are both measurable and addressable.

Many people who have been told their labs are "normal" haven't had a truly comprehensive hormonal evaluation. Standard fertility panels often miss subclinical imbalances that are enough to disrupt reproductive function.

What We Evaluate

Sabrina conducts a thorough hormonal assessment before making any recommendations.

  • For Women: Estrogen and progesterone levels, FSH and LH, AMH (ovarian reserve), full thyroid panel (TSH, free T3, free T4), prolactin, testosterone and DHEA, cortisol and adrenal markers, insulin and metabolic markers for PCOS screening
  • For Men: Testosterone (total and free), FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin, thyroid, and semen analysis referrals where appropriate

Lab work is completed through a local facility near Los Gatos for your convenience, and results are reviewed in detail with Sabrina before any protocol is developed.

Conditions That Respond to Hormone Optimization

PCOS

One of the most common causes of ovulatory dysfunction. Hormonal and metabolic optimization can meaningfully improve ovulatory regularity and fertility outcomes in women with PCOS.

Thyroid Dysfunction

Even mild hypothyroidism can interfere with ovulation and increase miscarriage risk. Thyroid optimization is often a foundational step in fertility support for women with borderline markers.

Luteal Phase Deficiency

Low progesterone in the second half of the menstrual cycle can prevent implantation or lead to early pregnancy loss. Progesterone support is one of the more straightforward interventions.

Low Testosterone in Men

Testosterone is required for sperm production. Low levels directly impact male fertility. Optimization of the hormonal environment can support sperm production and quality.

Elevated Prolactin

Hyperprolactinemia in both women and men can suppress reproductive hormones and disrupt fertility. Identifying and addressing this is part of a thorough evaluation.

Post-Pill Disruption

Hormonal contraceptive discontinuation can leave the endocrine system dysregulated for months. Targeted evaluation and support can accelerate recovery of normal hormonal cycling.

Our Role in Your Fertility Journey

LuminHRT is not a fertility clinic in the traditional sense. We don't perform procedures, manage IVF cycles, or provide obstetric care. What we do is provide rigorous hormonal evaluation and optimization for individuals and couples where hormonal factors are contributing to fertility challenges.

For many clients in Los Gatos, this work runs alongside care from a reproductive endocrinologist. Optimizing your hormonal environment can complement — and in some cases reduce the intensity of — interventions needed elsewhere.

All consultations are via video, available to clients throughout Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell, Monte Sereno, Los Altos, and Santa Clara County. If you haven't had a thorough hormonal workup as part of your fertility evaluation, that's a reasonable place to start.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

No. We are a hormone optimization practice. We do not perform IVF, IUI, egg retrieval, or any reproductive procedures. Our scope is evaluating and correcting hormonal imbalances that may be contributing to fertility challenges. Many clients work with us alongside a reproductive endocrinologist.
A thorough hormonal evaluation is the only way to know for certain. Many people go through standard fertility workups without a complete hormonal panel. If you haven't had a full evaluation including thyroid, prolactin, cortisol, and all relevant reproductive hormones, there may be information you're missing.
Optimizing your hormonal environment before and during an IVF cycle may support outcomes, though we can't make guarantees. This is an area where working in coordination with your reproductive endocrinologist matters. We're happy to collaborate with your existing care team.
Yes. Male factor infertility is often hormonal. Low testosterone, elevated estrogen, or elevated prolactin can all affect sperm production and quality. A male hormonal evaluation is a reasonable step if standard semen analysis has shown issues or if no cause has been identified.
This depends on how it's managed. Exogenous testosterone can suppress sperm production. If preserving or improving fertility is the goal, the protocol is designed differently u2014 often using compounds that stimulate the body's own testosterone production rather than replacing it directly. Sabrina addresses this directly during your consultation.
Sperm production cycles take roughly 72 to 90 days, so changes in male fertility markers are typically assessed after 3 months. For women, hormonal improvements may affect cycle regularity within 1 to 3 months depending on the underlying issue.
Yes. PCOS is one of the most common hormonal drivers of female infertility and it responds well to the kind of metabolic and hormonal optimization we do at LuminHRT.
The initial consultation is $169, credited toward your first month if you proceed with the membership at $349/month. Individual visits without a membership are $299/hour. Full details are on our Membership page.
